I want to say this: I have THE BEST readers. You all mean so very much to me. Thank you for coming here so often to look at my photography and read my short texts, I do hope they inspire you like you inspire me!
I’m happily amazed every week to see that you write about me, stick up for me or email me just to talk, or to tell me something. You all make me believe in myself, and in my ability to create good things.

Today I want especially to thank Sahakiel for naming me Redhead of the Week (love the idea for this blog!) and sweet Felicia for including me in her entry on hair.

Without all of you, this blog would be quite boring. :)

All my love,

Emily

Dårar rusar in dit visa mänskor aldrig går.

Photograhy by Jimmy Backlund for Swedish Elle August 2010.

There are few editorials that really wow me nowadays, but this one blew me away when I first saw it. The styling by Lisa Lindqwister is flawless (can't stop craving that D&G knit in the last photo), not to mention the photography. It's inspired me so much this fall, and I know it's one of those series of photographs I'll keep and come back to years from now. And that, to me, is a big part of what fashion photography is all about. I hope I'll create things to inspire people like this some day too.

Today I'm channeling the boy in me through Kristofer's old Burberry shirt and my new camel brouges.

Yesterday night was so great! I met up with my darling friends Moa, Stina and Cecilia to celebrate Stina's birthday. Moa's boyfriend was playing at Debaser Medis, so we went to watch his band and drink beer. It was nice to just be us girls and act silly and talk about sex and puke and love and blogs and life and everything inbetween. Thanks guys! ♥

Film stills from The Addams Family and The Addams Family Values.

The first ever style icon I ever had was Wednesday Addams. I have a vivid memory of lying on my parents bed (it was one of those nights when my parents were going to a party and we had a babysitter coming over) and watching Lisa Loring play Wednesday Addams in the tv series from -64. I was spellbound. Later, when I first saw Christina Ricci playing Wednesday so perfectly, I just wanted to be her. I mean she was smart, sassy, ironic and beautiful, how could you not? Wednesday also launched, I think, my deep deep love for the gothic, and certainly for Tim Burton. I donned her look by putting my hair into braids and walking around with a solemn/sour face. My parents did not appreciate it, hehe. I've had a lot of style icons since then, but I always come back to Wednesday. She was just so flawless, your know.

Är du, är min baby, eller är du inte?

My friends Sylvia and Saga at Syvias 25th birthday bash, which was themed The Prohibition.

I was gonna finish my movie analysis for Fashion Studies, but then I started compiling this list of my favorite jazz, great band and dance hall music. And then I thought, since it's Friday (best day of the week!) I wanna share it with you guys. So let's all get into the vibe of the Cotton Club and Golden Era Hollywood with this playlist, which I'm calling: Let's dance like it's Friday 24th 1939. I hope you like it!

Remember this last April, when I first got my Diani Mini for my birthday? Gosh, how I've used it! I brought it to New York this summer, and experimented with both color and b/w film. And I photographed my friends, and the cherry blossoms at Kungsträdgården this spring. But I haven't been able to show you any of this stuff, because our scanner broke down just after I got the Mini, and it's been broken since. So a couple of days ago Kristofer and I went and bought this new shiny magical box that is a printer as well as a scanner/film scanner/copy machine! I'm very excited, because now I can show you guys both my Diana Mini shots and lots of other fun stuff. And I'm starting out with these, the first photos I even took with the Mini back in April. Gosh, it was sooo cold! I know I still need a lot of practice, but I kind like these even though they're very point-and-shoot. Can't wait to show you more!

Om att färdas genom dig.

Right now it feels like I'm travelling very fast, and my life is a blur punctuated by random incidents. Gosh, I can't really explain it, and it sound so lofty and pretentious. But I can't really grasp the feeling neither. All I know is this: I like it. And I like you guys, so thanks for being so great.

Möt mig under läktaren sen.

This is what I was channeling yesterday; some kind of thrown together school girl look (and that's also why I find the last photo hilarious, heehee). I really love the siluett that a big cardigan and a short voluminous skirt makes.

DS.2.

P.S.3. And for my international readers, this entry is about the importance of voting, and about the Swedish election. If you want to read it, you can Google Translate it here. D.S.3.

Trivialiteter av tyngd.

Okay. Remember this summer, when I couldn’t stop obsessing about getting a boater hat. And I did , and I loved it, and we still have this great love story that will continue next summer (or maybe on a not too windy autumn day). Well, now I have a few new obsessions that are getting to me. These are the (small) things I’m dreaming of right now…:

+ a red velvet dress. After seeing Joan in a red dress on this season’s Mad Men (the one that makes her look like a present, you know) I can’t stop thinking about red dresses. I’ve managed to find loads of red dresses, but either they’ve been just poor quality, or they’ve been the wrong color red. Really, I never stopped dreaming after this.

+ a ditto petrol blue velvet dress. Oh, it would be so dreamy.

+ a black pleated skirt. Now, here’s the thing: when I was fourteen I thrifted the most perfect pleated black skirt. I still use that skirt, a lot. The problem is that that ten years of constant wear is starting to show, and it’s time to find a successor to it. And since pleats are very “in” this season, I thought it would be an easy feat. But no.

So, I need your help. Keep and eye out for me, if you see anything like the items above, ‘kay? I know, and you know, that you are great and awesome. So I trust you’ll help me, just like you guys helped me with the boater hat issue. Because I could say that clothing is trivial and yada yada, but that would be such a lie. At least when it concerns pleated skirts and red velvet dresses, right? ;)

Fragment att samla på.

I hate the days when I'm forced to choose between my camera and something else (like my laptop, or a bunch of heavy books) to bring with me for a day. Without it, I feel a little lost and confused, like I can't really be as perceptive as I usually am. Probably because I see so many things every day that I want to photograph, and when I can't it kinda feels like a loss. Fortunately, today I didn't have to choose, and these are some of the things I didn't have to miss.

River ner en vacker dröm.

Photos from Stockholm University last October.

Good things right now:

+ Anticipating crisp, cold autumn mornings and long walks under the red-glowing trees.
+ Fantasizing with Kristofer about the dachshund (Arthur Miller) that we are going to buy some day. Where we will take him for walks and where he will sleep.
+ Reminiscing about cold days and nights in Berlin. About drinking green beer and getting drunk in the bathtub and dancing until dawn in secret night clubs and sumptuous breakfasts at our favorite café.
+ Carefully, thoughtfully building a home with the person I love.
