Tror du att kärlek är som sångerna vi hör?
Good morning, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN everybody! You might not know this, but Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year. It's the Tim Burton-obsessed child in me, I assure you. :) Anyways, I thought I'd set the mood of the day with some super-creepy spirit photography. These were taken by a British medium called William Hope in the 1910's and 20's. Of course it's obvious, today, that these are double-exposures, but I still find them kinda scary. And it's so fascinating to think about what photography has been used for in history, what it has meant to people. Plus, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a big fan of Hope. How cool is that?

P.S. Read more about the people in the photos, and experience more creepyness here. D.S.

Får jag gå precis så nära att min axel stryker vid din arm? Jag vill inte verka jobbig eller så, men jag är varm. Du ser kall ut.
Phew, finally home again! I really hate going shopping on weekends, because I can't stand the over-crowded streets and stores. Anyways, this is what I wore pushing through the crowd; my new blue bird dress! Funnily enough a little blue bird is actually watching me from my balcony window as I'm writing this. Weird. I hope it's because he likes my dress.

Ingen tid för ceremonier.
After days of studying and writing, yesterday I decided to go for a long walk. Down by the bay the boats had been tucked away for the winter. It looked like everything had been wrapped up in white, so pretty.
Now, I'm off to get the last stuff for my Halloween costume. I'll tell you more about that later! *so excited*

Tjocka små pingviner och en isprinsessas käraste ägodel.
It’s funny when you realize how much a piece of clothing can mean to you. I’ve recently been thinking, fondly, of my first favorite dress ever. My mother bought it for me in Stockholm when I was about four years old. It was a cream colored jersey dress with long sleeves and a full skirt, and on its chest two fat red and white baby penguins were ice skating, making pirouettes. It was what I imagined an ice skating champion would wear, and so I called it the Ice Skating Princess Dress (with much reverence). I loved that dress so much, and mourned it when I grew out of it. And lately I’ve thought about how much that dress must have affected me; I still, to this day, love that “skater model” kind of dress more than any other silhouette. Also, I think it’s nice to remember the clothes that I liked before I learned about fashion, and became a consumer. Back then, as a child, I loved clothes based only on how they made me feel, and I would name them according to what they reminded me of. As much as I would like to still feel that way about my clothes, the magic of childhood worn off. And I still mourn my Ice Skating Princess Dress a little bit.
Now tell me; did you have a favorite piece of clothing as a child, and what did it look like, feel like?

I really love Stockholm today, as you know. I think it can be so breathtaking at times, it almost hurts. But my dream would be to travel back in time to experience Stockholm in the 1940's, 50's or 60's. Oh, to dream...

P.S. I feel so much better today, thanks for caring, guys! And today is my favorite day of the week, so I have no doubts that today will be a lovely day. D.S.

Du får mig att tro, när vi går genom tiden, att allt det bästa inte hänt än.
Darn this horrible horrible day! Today I just want to hide, because the world is being very very rude. I hope it will behave better tomorrow, because I have a really exciting Friday, Saturday and Sunday infront of me. Now, off to my and Kristofer's favorite restaurant to have some creole comfort food.
Later!

Håll min hand, vi tar en promenad.
I'm trying to write my home exam right now, but my mind keeps drifting of to my Diana Mini. (Yes, I daydream of photography!) Here's a few photos from a roll I took this summer and forgot to develop. I still have a lot to learn, and I practice whenever I can. I like these though, especially the double exposures, which has become my favorite thing because of the dreamy punch-drunk result. Lately I've become obsessed with doing Bulb-exposures at night, so yesterday I stood with my little camera and mini tripod in the big intersection a block from my house, trying to time the traffic. I'm very excited to see the results!

Fyra fina faktiskt.
Sweet thing Malin forwarded me a little list of four times four questions. Here are my answers:
Four things I’ve done today
+ Chatted with my mom about the best pumpkin pie recipe
+ Stood on my tippy toes to smell the secret smell behind my beloved’s right ear
+ Been laying on our new couch looking out at the sky, which was the exact same gray as the couch
+ Had three cups of tea and three cups of coffee and one cup of Greek yoghurt with honey on top
Four things I long for
+ Going to Fårö, smelling the fall there and the salt in the air and bahing along with the sheep
+ Taking long road trips, bringing coffee and chocolate chip cookies in a basket, driving through nothingness with 90’s pop blasting from the car speakers
+ Having our moving in party with freshly baked Lucia buns, glasses of cold milk and all my friends
+ For a secret project I’m working on to finally, finally go through
Four TV-shows I’m watching
+ Project Runway, go Mondo!
+ Veckans Kanin (Kristofer’s TV show)
+ Gossip Girl, and I already miss Little J...
+ Lite sällskap, the best Swedish reality show right now
Four things I dislike
+ People who doesn’t believe that others can change
+ Customers that are rude or mean to sales clerks
+ Old people that are all alone because their children and grand children don’t care about them enough
+ People that are always set on failure, yours as well as their own
Four people I would like to see answer these questions next
+ Sylvia
+ Lavelle
+ Hannah and Landon
+ Moa

Illustrations by Hans Arnold.
Gosh, the new just reached me that my childhood hero, illustrator Hans Arnold, has passed away. I've loved his work since the day I first climbed one of the high bookshelves in my fathers little library and slipped out a heavy book of horror stories. I was a child obsessed with the Addams Family and ghosts and folklore, and he drew these scary fairytales best of all. Rest in peace and thank you, Mr Arnold! You will be missed.

Hej hej!
Hey y'all! Sorry for not bloging yesterday, my migraine decided to show up unannounced and wreck my whole day. :( But now I'm back on top and I'm writing this to you on MY NEW LAPTOP! I'm so happy I finally bought it and I love it like a child, heehee. Today I'm gonna start writing my home exam, but I'll be postin' some good stuff later.
'Til then!

Oh, maskerad för hjärtat!
Photography by Pierre Louis Pierson, 1856-1893.
One of the best things about studying Fashion Studies is that I'm constantly presented with new photographers and muses, and thus I'm constantly inspired. One of my latest obsessions is Countess Castiglione, photographed by French 19th century photographer Pierre Louis Pierson. She was this flamboyant courtesan who loved to dress up and make great entrances(her outfit as the Queen of Hearts caused a great fuss at the French court). She worked closely with Pierson to create 700 photographs depicting herself in different costumes, as different characters, and she really pushed the boundaries of the time by exposing her bare arms, legs and feet in several photos. In short: she was kind of amazing. I just love to think about these people who developed and inspired photography in the beginning, they remind me why I fell in love with analog photography in the first place.

Kristyr och sockerträd.
Yesterday the first snow fell over Stockholm, and it was early even by our standards. Everybody else seems to think this is horrible, but I thought it was kinda pretty so see trees still green and yellow and red, covered in white like frosting.
